Boston, Game 2

What were they doing last night? A-Rod: 0-5, 2 strikeouts, 2 double plays, and an error. I never liked him. It seems like Damon is the only one who plays with any heart these days.

Tonight, we have Ponson, who has pitched much better than expected, versus Paul Byrd, who isn't very great.

Ponson only has a 3-3 record with the Yankees, but that's deceiving. His first few starts, he had unbelievable run support. His next few, he had almost none whatsoever. His record should be much better than it is.

Mike Mussina, who's never won more than 19 games in a season, should already have 20 wins this season, and if he had good run support every start, he would. But, he doesn't. So he will have to settle for another close season.

Game at 7 tonight, if they lose this one, they're done.

August 26th, Boston, Game 1

It's the series we've all been waiting for, and it could very well decide the whole season. Yankees are swept, they're 8 games back and probably can't come back. Yankees sweep, they're 2 games back, should have some fire in them, and could very well knock Boston out of the playoffs. And face it, the only thing better than seeing the Yankees win is seeing Boston lose.

Pettitte should pitch good, as he usually pitches better in pressure/intense situations.

New York has been pounding Wakefield the last few times they've seen him, so if the bats show up, this game should turn out as a win.

It's gonna be different playing the Sox without Manny, but I can't complain...I'd rather face Jason Bay than Manny

Instant Replay

So, If your team happens to be playing the first game of a series on Thursday, don't be surprised to find out that Instant Replay will be in effect for that game.

1. The Umpires are part of the game. They say the will only use replay for fair/foul calls, but once you use it for that, why not use it for safe/out calls. And once you use it for that, why don't you just replace the umpires with a machine that calls balls and strikes? The game is great because umpires are humans, and sometimes they screw up a call, but more times than not, they get the call right. So don't mess with it.

2. We all like to see the managers argue. That's another part of the game. Don't take that away from us.

3. You can't change rules in the middle of a season. If it was the post-season, which still wouldn't make sense, it would be okay. But just picking a random day to use replay doesn't make sense.

But at least they're only using it for home run calls-so far. Hopefully it stays that way.
