State of the Yankees

So it's August 15. There's only 46 games left this season and we're 6 games up on Boston in the loss column. That is a very good place to be...This time last year, weren't we on our way to missing the playoffs for the first time in forever? Yup, we were.

But this isn't last year. This is a whole different team. CC and Burnett are both coming around and pitching amazingly well right now. A.J.'s pitching better, in my opinion, but it's hard not to be content with either of them on the mound. Teixeira? Probably the best sign. Not only can he hit, but guess what, he can play defense! Yankees didn't see any of that with Giambi out there.

Anyway, we have an amazing team right now, don't take it for granted. But enjoy it, because if we keep winning, this could be a World Series-bound team.

1B-Teixeira
2B-Cano
3B-Rodriguez
SS-Jeter

RF-Nady
C-Posada
DH-Matsui

Potential Batting Order-

Rodriguez
Matsui
Posada
Nady

Gardner/Cabrera

Looks good enough for me.

In other news...I just found out that the Orioles and the Blue Jays left the AL East and went to the AL Central. I don't know when that happened, but it wasn't publicized well at all.

Merry Christmas

Mark Teixeira, the greatest Christmas present since CC Sabathia!

We needed him bad. If you don't think so, I'd like to know why, because I can't make any argument against him. He has good defense, he puts up great numbers. And he plays First. The Yankees need all of those things. And we got all of those things. So everything seems good.

Breaking News: Tiexiera

Buster Olney's reporting that the Yankees have signed First Baseman Mark Tiexiera.

World Series, Game 3

It went a little bit long, but I liked it.

At first I was going to root for the Rays in this series, but then I figured that since they're in our division I should be rooting against them. But it's too hard to root against these guys. It's easy to root for all the players, they have a great manager, what's not to like?

But they need to win tonight and keep the series tied or else they might be in trouble.

Offseason News

Ok...2009 will be a good year.

Potential rotation:

Sabathia
Chamberlain

Not great, but that should be good enough to win us a lot of games.

Potential Defense

C-Posada
1B-Tiexera
2B-Cano
SS-Jeter
3B-A Rodriguez
OF-Nady, Damon, possibly Gardner or Justin Christian, or Abreu if he comes back. And there's always Melky.

Potential Batting Order.

Gardner
Damon
Jeter
Rodriguez
Tiexera
Nady
Posada
Cano
[DH]

Ok, It definitely wouldn't be in that order. But with that group of guys, how bad could we turn out?

No Playoffs

Yankees won, Boston won, Yankees go play golf, Boston goes play baseball.

Not really a good way for the Stadium to go out. But the last game there was amazing. And if you're not convinced yet, remember They're tearing it down because they're making a better one. Just watching the tape of them putting the YANKEE STADIUM up on the front and I was convinced. That new stadium is going to be amazing. I'm just sad that I never got to go to the Stadium.

Boston, Game 2

What were they doing last night? A-Rod: 0-5, 2 strikeouts, 2 double plays, and an error. I never liked him. It seems like Damon is the only one who plays with any heart these days.

Tonight, we have Ponson, who has pitched much better than expected, versus Paul Byrd, who isn't very great.

Ponson only has a 3-3 record with the Yankees, but that's deceiving. His first few starts, he had unbelievable run support. His next few, he had almost none whatsoever. His record should be much better than it is.

Mike Mussina, who's never won more than 19 games in a season, should already have 20 wins this season, and if he had good run support every start, he would. But, he doesn't. So he will have to settle for another close season.

Game at 7 tonight, if they lose this one, they're done.

Yanks Sign Sexson

Unofficial still, but the Yankees and Richie Sexson have agreed to a deal. Seattle will pay almost all of his salary, the Yankees have to pay him less than $200,000. He has good numbers against lefties this year, but the catch is that he only has a small amount of at bats against them. I can't complain with it though. If he performs, that's all I want.

Morneau wins Derby, Hamilton is remembered.

Lots of people have never heard of Justin Morneau. After last night, lots of people will forget Justin Morneau. Somebody needs to change the rules.

When somebody puts on a show like that, and hits that many home runs, how can he not win? Isn't the point of the Derby to hit as many home runs as you can?
